ABOUT THE BLOG
What is it that inspires you? For me, it’s Bluebird & Daisy and the creative world it has given to me.
Hello! I'm Tracey. I started as a quilter and maker/designer of patchwork quilts when I was 13 years old. This took me to national competitions, a few published patterns and to teaching children how to sew and make textile creations into my thirties. I have always knitted having been taught by my grandmother. In 2014 we had new owners of the wool shop here in my home town of Cullompton, Devon. I went in to introduce myself as a crafter and the colours of the yarn caught my eye. Cara, the owner, was a crocheter and the wonder of the hook got me curious.
In February 2015 using the fantastic blog of Attic24 I started with a crochet wave blanket, which my daughter has now called her own. My second blanket was Sophie's Universe, which for those of you who know it was an absolute baptism of fire. Needless to say it got me knowing all the basic stitches and then some.
I published my first Crochet Along in 2016 and have since had four crochet alongs and numerous individual patterns which I've designed when I've been unable to find anything to suit. I have also started playing with knitwear design more recently and will share my patterns, free and paid here on the site.
Living in Mid-Devon I am surrounded by beautiful countryside with the coast only a short distance away. I am inspired by how nature always gets her colours right and using the simple basics of crochet such as granny squares. I believe that anyone can make anything they want and that difficulty is in the mind. If you like it you will work out how to make it.
You can also find me on Instagram, Facebook and Ravelry (see links at the top of the page).
Bluebird & Daisy is truly my passion and what keeps me going. By starting this website I hope to share my inspirations, designs and general ponderings. I hope you enjoy having a look around. Read on and enjoy!
