I do love a crochet along and I love designing blankets. After the great success of the last one this design has been around since one of the lockdowns last year when I did a 30 day crochet challenge. To crochet every day. I made three blankets in that time, two designed from scratch. This is the first of those blankets. Remade and tested it can be either 45 inches square or 52 inches square with the theme of hearts running from the centre out.

Here is the link to the information you need to get ready for the first part on 5 May. Any questions please just message me or email me at bluebirdanddaisy@gmail.com. The colours used in the above and below versions are detailed in the information sheet.

I'm not a great one for telling people what colours to use so please follow what feels right for you. This would look great in two colours or ten. I'll add below what I've used and what my testers used to give you some ideas. The information will tell you the quantities. This is yet another great chance to use up that stash of yarn left overs.
Tokkie created the beautiful larger version in pinks and blues. I'll update details of the yarn she used soon.
Liz made this lovely pink, yellow and green smaller version. I love how the yellow really makes the reds and pinks just pop, it reminds me of strawberries and cream on a summer day whilst watching Wimbledon. She used the following and a 4.5mm (G) hook which came out to a 53 inch square blanket:
Lion Brand Ice Cream Lemon Merengue # 211 290 G of 3 skeins (100 g each); Stylecraft Special Double Knit (each 100g) Sage, Fondant, Candy Floss, Pomegranate, Lipstick; Scheepjes Colour Crafter Urk (light blue) (100 g).
This will start on 5 May and be a weekly pattern release until 9 June. The pattern will remain free here on my blog for the duration of the crochet along with a full paid for pdf version the replacing it and appearing on Ravelry on 16 June, a week after the crochet along finishes (I'll add a link here at that time too).
I'll start remaking the second blanket for hopefully release later this year, this one has a seaside theme.
