Konin was supposed to be a redesign of a previous design but he ended up a whole new idea spilling out from my hook. The name comes from the Cornish word for rabbit, the county that I grew up in. I’ve always had a rabbit or two bouncing around the garden so the two collided.

Difficulty
The pattern is written in US terminology. You work a single crochet in the round with the legs and body made in one piece. Arms, ears and head are made separately and joined.
Yarn and Notions
Double knitting yarn (light worsted / 8 ply) I used Stylecraft Special Double Knit in Parchment, Aspen and Raspberry
3mm (US C/3) hook
2.5mm (US B/1.5) hook
Stuffing
Two 7mm safety eyes
Darning or tapestry needle
Measurements
Bunny measures 11 cm / 4.25 inches tall from foot to ear.
Abbreviations
ch – chain
dc – double crochet
sc – single crochet
sc2tog – single crochet two stitches together to decrease
slst – slip stitch
st(s) – stitch(es)
tr – treble crochet
*_____* - repeat instructions between the stated number of times
Pattern Notes
Work in continuous rounds unless otherwise instructed.
To end yarn slst into the next two stitches and end.
Bunny
Legs (make 2)
1. In body colour, either ch2 and work in the first ch or make a magic loop – sc 6
2. 2sc in each st – 12 sts
3. *sc, 2sc* – 18 sts
4-6. sc
7. *sc, sc2tog* – 12
8. sc end yarn
Make a second leg but do not end yarn as we continue onto the body
Body
From the second leg, ch 3 and join with a slst into the top of the first leg.
1. sc 12 around the first leg, working in the ch, sc 3, sc 12 around the second leg, working in the other side of the ch, sc3 – 30 sts, mark as start of round
2-3. sc
Change to t-shirt colour
4-10. sc
11. *sc 3, sc2tog* – 24 sts
12. sc
13. *sc 2, sc2tog* – 18 sts
14. sc
15. *sc, sc2tog* – 12 sts end yarn
Stuff legs and body.
Head
1. In body colour, either ch2 and work in the first ch or make a magic loop – sc 6
2. 2sc in each st – 12 sts
3. *sc, 2sc* – 18 sts
4. *sc 2, 2sc* – 24 sts
5. *sc 3, 2sc* – 30 sts
6. *sc 4, 2sc* – 36 sts
7. *sc 5, 2sc* – 42 sts
8-15. sc – place safety eyes between rounds 11 and 12 with six sts between
16. *sc 5, sc2tog* – 30 sts
17. *sc 4, sc2tog* - 24 sts
18. *sc 3, sc2tog* - 18 sts
19. *sc 2, sc2tog* - 12 sts end yarn leaving a long end for sewing
Stuff head and sew to the body making sure the eyes face forwards in line with the legs.
Ears (make 2)
1. In body colour, either ch2 and work in the first ch or make a magic loop – sc 4
2. *sc, 2sc* - 6 sts
3. *sc, 2sc* - 9 sts
4. *sc 2, 2sc* - 12 sts
5. *sc 3, 2sc* - 15 sts
6. *sc 4, 2sc* - 18 sts
7-15. sc, do not end yarn
Fold the bottom edges of the ears into the centre, slst each edge into the centre (see photo), end yarn leaving a long end for sewing. Sew to the top of the head. I placed the ears two rows down from the top of the head on each side.
Arms (make 2)
1. In body colour, either ch2 and work in the first ch or make a magic loop – sc 5
2. 2sc in each st – 10 sts
3-5. sc
Change to t-shirt colour
6-9. sc, end yarn leaving a long end for sewing
Squish the top of the arm flat and sew to the side of the body making sure you go through both sides of the arm itself.
Tail
1. Either ch2 and work in the first ch or make a magic loop – sc 5
2. 2sc in each st – 10 sts
3-4. sc, end yarn leaving long end for sewing
Gather around the 10 sts of the last round and pull tight making a ball. Sew to the back of your bunny.
Heart
Using a 2.5mm hook. Either ch2 and work in the first ch or make a magic loop: ch 3, in your starting point, tr 3, dc 3, ch1, tr 1, ch1, dc 3, tr 3, ch2 and slst into the base of the ch3 start. Sew to the front of the bunny.
